PSALMS CLASS IMPOSSIBLE TONIGHT (THURS, FEB 15)

PSALMS CLASS IMPOSSIBLE TONIGHT (THURS, FEB 15)

Dear Friends:

My neck is still painfully injured from my wiping out on an icy sidewalk in Dunmore the day before my departure on the trip Monday last week, and consequently I slept very poorly last night, being awakened by the pain every couple of hours.

As a result, as I’ve been sitting here for the past few hours reading and taking notes in preparation for tonight’s broadcast, I’ve found myself repeatedly nodding off. When I then subsequently snap awake and look at the notes I was unwittingly writing while dozing, some of them are amusingly incoherent gibberish as a consequence of my sleep deprivation. (I mean even more incoherent than my normal, fully-awake comments, of course  if you can imagine that.)

I’ve made appointments for a chiropractic adjustment and a half-hour therapeutic neck massage tomorrow which will hopefully, if not eliminate the pain, at least alleviate it somewhat.

In the meantime I’m still struggling to catch up on all the correspondence and other matters which uncooperatively piled up in my week-long absence. If you’ve ever taken a trip you know what dealing with such a backlog is like upon your return, as the rest of the world doesn’t stop spinning during your absence.

For all these reasons and more, my preparations for tonight’s session are far from complete, which compels me to ruefully postpone our next Psalms class until tomorrow (Friday) night at 9 pm Eastern. We’ll discuss Psalm 21 (22 in a non-Douai-Rheims Bible), the psalm we were scheduled to study together tonight.

Looking ahead, Saturday’s weekly broadcast on Guéranger’s “Liturgical Year” will be doubly challenging, as we’ll have, not one, but TWO weeks of readings to cover, since circumstances didn’t allow me to broadcast from abroad last Saturday. Please pray that I find the time to get all the necessary reading completed by Saturday, as I fell seriously behind during my trip, which left me virtually no time for reading.

See you all tomorrow night (Fri, Feb 16), God willing. I pray daily for you all that our merciful God is lavishing His graces upon you and granting you a holy and productive Lent — in fact, your most spiritually successful Lent ever. God bless!

Yours in our faithful Savior, Jesus Christ,

Gerry Matatics
